This is a foundation course on drawing. Drawing in reality is the basis of all visual arts. It is an artist’s most essential skill to create fine art. This course also aims for you to re-examine with fresh eyes the fundamentals of drawing and its techniques: lines, volume, space, textures, and tonal values.

TFA 20 B – Art History 1
The course is a survey of prehistoric, ancient, and modern art from the artist’s point of view. The course contents are organized chronologically in that it traces the evolution of art production period by period, and movement by movement. Individual works of art and masterpieces that embody the defining characteristics of each period or movement are highlighted and analyzed in detail to reveal how social, political, and cultural conventions of the time shaped art production, how artists influenced each other, and how the full meaning of such works can be interpreted in the context of history and culture.

TFA 180 - Design Theory
The course seeks to deepen the understanding of students on the different theories and methodologies that re/shape the landscape of design as a form of practice. While it has been noted that design as practice is fairly new compared to other fields of scholarly discipline, there have been consistent and vigorous efforts by many design scholars and experts to put together a range of theoretical approaches through which design synthesizes into a form of discipline.

D 120 - Introduction to Product Design 1 AY 2021-22
The course seeks to introduce to product design students the historical overview of design, the fundamental principles in designing objects as marketable products, and the basic structure of the design process. The students will be introduced to the process of creating design briefs and product design specification (PDS) as guide to product research and development. The case study for this course focuses on the problems of personal mobility and storage as defined and solved by bag design.
